Models for Peace is a research and documentation institute that studies how wars and political violence affect societies over decades and how sustainable peace can be built in response. Our work focuses on the long-term impacts of conflict on institutions, communities, mental health, and the environment, and on the practical choices that can reduce those harms.
The institute grows out of Universal Models for Peace, an earlier initiative that connected public influence with humanitarian and development work through participation in peace summits, nuclear disarmament campaigns, Peace Boat voyages, and international forums on sustainable development and gender equality. Today, Models for Peace consolidates that history into structured models, case records, and educational materials designed for practitioners, policymakers, and citizens working toward sustainable peace and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Models for Peace’s history includes campaigns and events that connect democracy, energy transition, youth leadership, and sustainable development. These range from New York–based actions with clean‑energy partners to international recognition for work on democratic values at high‑level gatherings in the Americas.

Michael William Paul is the Founding Director of Models for Peace, bringing more than two decades of work at the intersection of media, politics, and international institutions. Trained in mass communications and political science with a focus on comparative and transitional economies, he studied in Canada and Russia, including work on transitional economics at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
His career spans multiple international assignments as a senior advisor and visual director around the United Nations and other forums, alongside private‑sector work in media production, art, and entertainment. Through MWP Studios and related platforms, he builds camera‑ and technology‑driven systems.
